Supply and price trend for the booster boxes
Up to now, I haven’t been able to easily track booster box data, but now that I’m able to, and the rumoured low supply of these boxes, I’m not willing to withhold the data from you 😉 Double Masters 2022 comes packed as draft booster boxes and collector booster boxes. These master sets are typically limited print runs and the following graphs give an idea of how many are available on Cardmarket since prerelease up to the time of writing of this article.
In comparison, standard sets like Streets of New Capenna, come in 4 different types of booster boxes: draft booster boxes, collector booster boxes, set booster boxes and finally theme booster boxes
Even though the 2nd hand market is not an absolute representation of the total supply and people might be hoarding more (or less) master boxes, it still provides the best baseline we have today. Therefore, based on these numbers, I’m inclined to say that we have about a third of the amount of boxes in comparison to the regular standard sets.
We should probably take into account that the double master draft boosters come with at least 2 rare/mythic slots whereas the standard draft booster comes with a single rare/mythic slot. Even then, the limited print run is obvious.
Broad strokes on Singles
The following graphs represent the available items and trend price of the nonfoil regular art cards on Cardmarket for the different rarities.
When comparing the “broad strokes” with the “broad strokes” from a standard set like my post for
Streets of New Capenna, It’s also clear from this view that the supply for a specific rarity is typically lower and the price on average is higher.
Singles
The following paragraphs just highly a couple of singles that can be found in Double Masters 2022.
Imperial Seal, Warrior’s Oath and Dockside Extortionist
These cards, next to Concordant Crossroads and Food Chain, saw a rarity shift from rare to mythic. So we could imagine that these cards would best retain their value, given the lower inherent supply for mythics.
Imperial Seal and Warrior’s Oath, more specifically, were originally printed in Portal Three Kingdoms (P3K), with scarcity determining their price. P3K’s Imperial Seal and Warrior’s Oath respectively have a Price Trend of 601.64 euro and 135.87 euro at the time of writing, their Double Master 2022 equivalents came in at a much lower price: Imperial Seal changed ownership at 104.53 euro and Warrior’s Oath did that for 25.46 euro on prerelease day!
Imperial Seal’s P3K price might be a bit too high for people wanting to play this card (if they would not be willing to proxy it altogether. Actually, it might be a good research topic to know when people start to swap out their proxies for genuine cards, I would be more then happy to have your thoughts on this in the comments below), and the lower price point due to this print run might have people include it a bit more in their decks. From the supply curve, we see that the card has been picked up heavily in the last couple of days, from here on out I expect the price to be settling out.
Imperial Seal feels like a spec that could pay off in the long(er) term. Warrior’s Oath on the other hand, has seen it’s supply increase heavily and it’s price drop in response, today, it can be picked up around 8.16 euro.
Dockside Extortionist is a card that saw a limited print run in Commander 2019 and got it’s reprint in Double Masters 2022. It currently stands as the 5th most expensive card from the set. For those looking to get their copy of this goblin pirate, it appears supply is falling again and it’s price has started to go up.
Wrenn and Six, Cavern of Souls, Force of Negation
Wrenn and Six, Cavern of Souls and Force of Negation take respectively the 2nd, 3rd and 4th spot of most expensive cards from the set. For those interested, without much further ado, the corresponding graphs below!
That was it…
… for this write-up. Or, maybe, one last card, what about Mana Drain?! Mana Drain was initially printed in Legends, anecdotally, WoTC “found” some uncracked Legends booster packs and they decided to crack those and put 1 card of them in 3% of the collector boosters for the upcoming standard set Dominaria United. However don’t hold your breath,
you won’t be able to crack Mana Drain this way. So maybe, pick them up now…
– Yes, I know, even if the Legends’ Mana Drain would be a find in the collector boosters, it would not make a dent in the overall supply 😉
[Edit – 23/07/2022] And, on popular demand, Mana Vault!
They didn't get any mana drains. When they made legends there was an issue with half of the uncommons being in only half the boxes and the other half of the uncommons in the other boxes. They got all the same half that didn't have any mana drains.
From what I know that was not an issue, that was just the way the set was printed back then.
May I ask where you got the market prices for PK3 and Warrior’s Oath? I’ve been tracking their sales and nowhere were those sold for aforementioned prices unless they were heavily beat up (damaged).
I referred to the Cardmarket Price Trend, but you are right in the sense that English versions and NM versions go way higher in price for Imperial Seal! The cheapest English version goes at 900 euros.

The premium for an English for Warrior's Oath is a lot more "reasonable" if you ask me:
