The value of fetch lands have had quite some debate whether they would fall further in price or would rise again in the near future. After comparing several 1-day price averages w.r.t. the available items of mythics and rares, I’ve come to the conclusion that I’m objectively bearish on MTG fetch lands!
How prices on Cardmarket compare to their availability.
Today, I have gathered some 1-day price averages and available items from cardmarket for several regular art mythics, rares and their (non)foil finish. This allows to generate, what is called in scientifical language, a “scatter plot”: you put dots for each couple (available item, price) in a graph and hope to see some correlation and possibly be able to define some predictions. Linear regression analysis was then applied to this scatter plot in the hope to find some predictions. The green and black lines in the figures below are a result of this mathematical method. The green line being the first order linear regression and the black line a 4th order linear regression, but, who cares… 😉 You get the idea 🙂
So above are the images for the mythic rarity. Too no surprise, the lesser available items typically go for a higher price. What will show up relevant for the MH2 Fetch lands, is the price nearing 0 euro for nonfoil items once the available items amounts to about 2000 items. Similar conclusions can be made for the other cards, but with different quantities.
In order to be complete, I would like to point out that this data has been created from the following expansion sets: The Brothers’ War, Dominaria: United, Streets of New Capenna, Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty, Innistrad: Crimson Vow, Innistrad: Midnight Hunt, Adventures in the Forgotten Realms, Strixhaven: School of Mages, Kaldheim, Zendikar Rising and Ikoria: Lair of Behemoths.
Relating this information to the MH2 printed fetch lands
What follows are the figures that describe the available items and their price trend for the nonfoil regular arts of the MH2 fetch lands.
These fetch lands are still abundantly available with a supply of at least 3250 items! This implies that, if the charts from the previous section are of any value, the price is still not at its lowest. I’m not yet ready and willing to claim that these fetch lands will lose all value 😉
How does this financially aid me?
Well, if you think to stock up on these cards, I would strongly discourage you to buy into these. On the other hand, if you need some of them now, by all means, go buy them. But, if you have no pressing need to get these, then why not delay your purchase?
As usual, feel free to put your comments in the section below!
