We just had the pleasure of playing the first time with the new Battle type cards during last weekend’s prerelease! Packs have been opened and cards are being traded on Cardmarket! So how have the prices been evolving for these new cards?
Broad strokes
As usual these images represent the broad strokes of how available items and prices have been evolving for the nonfoil regular art of all cards of the given rarity.
Mythics
When going over the mythics, there isn’t a lot to say apart that all mythics are steadily dropping in price at the moment while their supply is steadily increasing.
Rares
As a general remark for the “red” colored graphs in the pictures below. The dashed line represents the 1-day average price, whereas the full line represents the Price Trend. Apologies for not yet having the legend on the images… but wanted to get this information out there ASAP.
Regarding the rares, the one card that currently stood out to me is the Invastion of Segovia. This cards was featured in an mtggoldfish video: “Much Abrew: Invasion of Segovia = Playing Legacy in Standard?“.
Sadly, this post is coming in a day too late as the graph was made on 18/4. Currently this Battle is going up in price and the “from” price has gone up to 9 euros!
If indeed the post from mtggoldfish is indeed a driving factor in demand, then there is a reason to also keep your eye on the mythic “Invasion of New Phyrexia” which was also featured in the corresponding video.
Another battle which seems to be in demand is the Invasion of Alara. Its supply has been dropping up towards a supply of 1000 items, which for me, is a triggering point for cards that might see a relevant price increase. The trendlines calculated in the post “Objective reason to be bearish on MTG Fetch lands” for the 1-day average price in function of the supply seem to indicate that we might expect a price around 4 euros for this card.
Another card too look out for might be “Ancient Imperiosaur”. Apparently, people started flinging huge dinosaurs in pioneer. We notice a steep decline in available items towards the 1000 items and they are still cheap for you to pick up.
What’s next for MOM?
Well, the set just got released and people are still experimenting with the cards, we’ll keep track on how supply and prices evolve over the coming days and a new post will probably be up soonish as value from these new cards becomes unlocked.
